The very faint dashed white line in the distance is the Highways Agency's official cycle path... You are then expected to cycle to the left of the rumble strip and may join the pavement at the drop kerb

Turn left at the T Junction (effectively straight on) for Canterbury. Whatever you do, DO NOT follow the road as it bears right and then filters on to the A2

Yes, a hill. Long and straight. And sheltered by trees. Shorter and less exposed than the A2.
